Brazilian financial newspaper Valor featured the recently selected idea for the Lab’s Brazil program.

“Securitization consultancy Vert Capital and impact investment firm Vox Capital are designing an investment fund to finance the recovery of degraded areas and support sustainable models of rural production in the Amazon and Cerrado regions. To overcome the main challenge of ensuring income for producers during the transition period, the fund will provide a “minimum income” guarantee to producers.

The financial structure is still being developed and will receive support from the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance, an accelerator program from the NGO Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) that selected the project, among five others, for modeling support. In recent years, the Lab has supported the development of financial solutions for addressing climate change. It is now also focusing on initiatives that promote gender equality.”
