The Climate-Smart Shrimp Fund—which formed part of the Lab’s 2022 selection of innovative initiatives—is showing solid signs of success with several projects that enable shrimp farmers to transition to more sustainable and efficient production systems while restoring mangrove ecosystems.
The Fund was recently profiled on the Fish Site portal as a positive example of responsible feed sourcing and for its effort to adopt energy-efficient technologies including smart aeration systems and renewable energy sources. It is also contributing to land and water conservation as shrimp farming picks up pace as one of the world’s fastest-growing protein sources.
