FiRe seeks the best ideas to drive clean energy and climate investment. Ideas suitable to FiRe’s mission must be action-oriented and possess potential to reach a significant scale and a Champion to spearhead the implementation. We particularly encourage submissions of innovative ideas focusing on risk management, securitisation, distributed solutions, energy poverty, cities and municipalities, climate change adaptation and carbon emissions reduction.
Successful ideas will receive development support from the initiative, promotion at the Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) Summit, mentoring from a BNEF topic expert and access to BNEF news, data and its network of energy sector leaders.
Our six winners from last year have already made tremendous progress: EBRD raised $2m for its energy efficiency intervention and the RMI launched its Business Renewables Center. Azuri Technologies’ Debt fund for energy access got a boost, when it was chosen as a finalist of the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance. Green Bonds have taken off since Bank of America presented the intervention to catapult them into the mainstream.
