The Catalyst Fund, a 2023 Lab instrument developed by BFA Global, announced it has invested USD 1.8 million in nine startups across the African continent.

“We are thrilled to invest in these 9 new ventures bringing innovative climate-smart solutions to the communities that need them most,” said Maelis Carraro, Managing Partner at the Catalyst Fund.

“Their groundbreaking models directly empower farmers, healthcare providers, waste workers, and small and medium businesses to adapt to the changes brought by climate change and drive climate positive economic growth.”

The fund provides pre-seed capital and bespoke venture building support to bridge gaps, foster innovation, and promote game-changing adaptation solutions. The fund leverages a team of technical experts who provide startups with hands-on venture building support, so they can achieve product market fit faster and build climate resilience among their users.

Three of these companies are based in Nigeria, with others investments based in Tanzania, Kenya, Senegal, Egypt, and South Africa. To date, the Catalyst Fund has invested in 19 companies.
